Alan F. Daubenspeck

November 22, 1948 - August 3, 2018

Alan F. Daubenspeck, 69, of Santa Claus, IN, passed away in the early morning hours of August 3rd, 2018. He was born in Linton, IN on November 22, 1948 to Rovena Crites and Robert Henry Daubenspeck. He lived his early years in Worthington with his parents and brother, Bob, before moving with the family to Oakland City in 1959. Alan graduated from Oakland City High School, playing the center position on the football team. Alan attended Oakland City College from 1968 to 1970. Alan married Leslie Elaine Wood in 1970, who also attended OCC. Elaine retired from teaching after 34 years at Heritage Hills High School, and Alan retired from the transportation division of Spencer Industries in 2003. Alan was a member of the Gentryville Freemasons Lodge, the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, and the Hadi Shriners International. Alan was a fan of many sports, and followed PGA Golf events, the New York Yankees baseball club, Indiana University Basketball, and the Oakland Raiders and Indianapolis Colts football teams. Highlights of Alan & Elaine’s life since their OCC days include their trips to the Grand Canyon, Grand Cayman islands, Heritage Hills’ 3A Football State Championship in 2000, and his hole-in-one at the Huntingburg golf course in 2001. He was preceded in death by his parents and his devoted wife Elaine on June 19th, 2018. A celebration of Alan’s life will be held at 4pm Eastern Time, Saturday, August 18th, at the Becher Funeral home at 625 Main St, Ferdinand, IN 47532. Visitation will be from 1pm to 4pm Saturday, August 18th at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to the Spencer County Community Foundation, Elaine Daubenspeck Memorial Scholarship Fund.
