November 1, 1933 - December 3, 2015

Don Edward Ambrose, 82, of Jasper, passed away, Thursday December 3, 2015, in Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper. He was born November 1,1933 in Cleveland, OH. to Edward & Mary (Csvy) Ambrose. Mary was born in Hungary. He married Beverly Peacock on January 23,1955 in Natchez, Mississippi. She preceded him in death on October 28, 1974. Don was a former boilermaker & pipefitter. He was a member of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Siberia. Don was a member of St. Meinrad Legion Post 366 and was a former Masonic Lodge member in Texas. He was a U.S. Navy Aviation Veteran during the Korean War. He traveled extensively during his enlistment period in the Navy to Guam, Sea Of Japan, Hawaii, Saipan, Sicily, Greece, France, Mediterranean, Italy, Spain, Morocco, and Cuba. He received the National Defense Korean Service Medal, United Nations, China Service Medal. Don was a caregiver much of his life and believed in charity and helping others. He lived much of his life in Baytown, TX. He enjoyed deep sea fishing, crabbing, and shrimping. He was an avid football fan and enjoyed spending time with his family. Don enjoyed travel and dogs. Surviving are one daughter, Mary Denu and husband Kenneth of Jasper; one son, Stephen Ambrose of Catoosa, Oklahoma; four step-daughters, Vicki Sheffeild, Marsha Rossell, Connie Schaeffer, and Tracy Allen Daw all of Spurger, TX.; nineteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; one sister, Pat Wilson of Luling, TX. He was preceded in death by one brother, Lew Ambrose and one sister, Naomi Seagrest. Funeral services 11:00 AM EST Monday in St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, Siberia with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 7:00 PM EST Sunday & 7 to 10:30 AM EST Monday at Becher Funeral Home, Ferdinand. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church or Northwood Retirement Community. Online condolences may be made at www.becherfuneralhome.com. ALL TIMES ARE EASTERN TIME
