Edgar V. Ebert

February 24, 1941 - September 24, 2015

Edgar V. Ebert, 74, of Ferdinand, passed away Thursday, September 24,2015 in St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville. He was born February 24,1941 in Fulda, IN. to Lawrence & Lorine (Gudorf) Ebert. He married Alberta T. Witte on September 15,1962 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg. She preceded him in death on May 13,2004. He was also preceded in death by his parents and his step-father Theodore Meyer. Edgar retired from Jasper Engines in 2004 after 24 years. He was a respected farm implement mechanic in the local area. He also worked at Jasper Implement, & the Hoosier Garage. He was a veteran of the Vietnam Era, and served two years in Germany. He was a member of St. Ferdinand Parish and it’s St. Joseph’s Sodality, Ferdinand Senior Citizens, Ferdinand American Legion Post 124 and Ferdinand Veterans Of Foreign Wars, Ferdinand Community Center. He was a former scoutmaster for Ferdinand Troop 186. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved his dog “Lex”. He repaired and refurbished old tractors as a hobby. Surviving are 1 daughter, Sherry Jones and her husband Doyle of Ferdinand; two sons, Terry Ebert and his wife Kathleen of St. Anthony, & Jerry Ebert and his wife Julie of Ferdinand; his fiancé, Gloria Petry of Ferdinand; four grandchildren, Grant Ebert, Amelia Ebert, Owen Ebert, and Robert Jones; four brothers, Charles Ebert and his wife Carol of Dubois, Ted Meyer of San Angelo, TX., Pat Meyer & Dave Meyer both of Huntingburg; two sisters, Bertha Denning & Marie Gessner both of Ferdinand. Funeral services 10:00 AM Tuesday, September 29th in St. Ferdinand Catholic Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Ferdinand American Legion Post 124 will conduct military graveside services. Friends may call from 2 to 8:00 PM Monday & 7 to 9:30 AM Tuesday at Becher Funeral Home, Ferdinand. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Ferdinand Church or Dubois County Humane Society. .
