Virginia C. Long, 85, of Evansville, passed away Tuesday, December 15th at Scenic Hills Care Center, Ferdinand. She was born August 30, 1930 in Bristow, Indiana to Edward & Johanna (Zoglman) Fuchs. She married Raymond Hildenbrand on April 21, 1951 in St. Meinrad Catholic Church, St. Meinrad. He preceded her in death on May 16, 1984. She married Maurice Long on July 1, 2001 in St. Ferdinand Catholic Church, Ferdinand. Surviving are her husband Maurice Long of Evansville; five sons, James (Brenda) Hildenbrand and Randy (Connie) Hildenbrand both of Ferdinand, Ken (Melissa) Hildenbrnand of Idaho, Kevin (Glenda) Hildenbrand of Mariah Hill, & Steve Hildenbrand of Rough River, KY; two daughters, Jane Simon of Santa Claus, and Janice Goldsberry of Mariah Hill; one step son, Terry Long & one step-daughter Jan Philpot; twenty two grandchildren and twenty six great-grandchildren also survive. Virginia was a member of St. Boniface Parish, Fulda and it’s Ladies Sodality, St. Meinrad Legion post 366 Auxillary. She was a farmer, homemaker, & a school bus driver for North Spencer School Corporation. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, dancing with the “Ferdinand Bunch”, and being with family & friends. She was precededin death by four sisters, Katie Enlow, Tillie Hamm, Frances Luebbehusen, & Monica Fuchs. Two brothers, Albert & Robert Fuchs. Funeral services 10:00 AM CDT Saturday December 19th in Saint Boniface Catholic Church, Fulda. Burial to follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8:00 PM CDT Friday & 7 to 9:30 AM CDT Saturday at Becher Funeral Home, Ferdinand. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
