Albert Norbert Elmer, 79 of Siberia died Monday November 13th in Scenic Hills Care Center in Ferdinand. Albert was born January 8, 1938 in Siberia to Edwin and Alma (Troesch) Elmer. He was united in marriage to Doris J. Mehringer on August 24, 1963 in Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper. She preceded him in death on February 23, 1986. Albert was an Army veteran and served in Germany. He was a member of St. Meinrad Legion Post 366, and St. Martin Of Tours Catholic Church. He enjoyed hunting, farming, playing cards, animals, especially dogs. He also enjoyed being with family and friends. Surviving are three sons, Glen (Carla) Elmer, Darrel (Martha) Elmer and Scott (Michelle) Elmer all of Siberia. Eight grandchildren, Taylor, Lance, Madelynne, Emily, Aubrey, Dylan and Tyler Elmer, and Braydon Songer. Three sisters, Edwina Wendholt of Ferdinand, Mildred (Othmar) Sander of Ireland, and Alfrieda (Austin) Matthews of Rockport. Funeral services for Albert Elmer will be held at 11:00 AM EDT Thursday in St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Siberia. Burial with military graveside rites provided by St. Meinrad Legion will follow in the church cemetery.
