Bernard T. "Bernie" Pund, 76 of Ferdinand, died Friday February 12th at Memorial Hospital & Healthcare Center, Jasper. He was born August 6, 1939 in Ferdinand to Leo & Cornelia (Schum) Pund. He married Mary F. Kerstiens on June 23, 1962 in Saint Ferdinand Catholic Church, Ferdinand. Surviving are his wife, Mary F. Pund, one daughter, Donna (Andy) Lueken of Ferdinand, one son, Dan (Elaina) Pund of Lake Charles, LA.; four brothers, Harold (Paulita) Pund, & Ken (Susan) Pund, both of Ferdinand, Robert (Janice) Pund of Santa Claus, Tom (Linda) Pund of St. Anthony; two Sisters, Rita Streicher & Jean (Ron) Schulz both of Ferdinand; three grandchilren, Brandon, Rachel, & Zachary Lueken; two step grandchildren & one step great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Ethan Lueken. Bernie was a member of Saint Ferdinand Parish and its St. Joseph's Sodality. He belonged to the Ferdinand American Legion Post 124. He served in the Army National Guard. He was a member of the Ferdinand Volunteer Fire Department for 28 years, and was a member of the Ferdinand Community Center. He retired from Jasper Wood Products. He enjoyed spending time with his children & grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals, Indianapolis Colts, and IU basketball fan. Funeral services Tuesday, February 16th AT 10:00 AM in Saint Henry Catholic Church, St. Henry, burial in Saint Ferdinand Church Cemetery. Ferdinand American Legion Post 124 will conduct military graveside rites. Friends may call from 2 to 8:00 PM Monday & 7 to 9:30 AM Tuesday at Becher Funeral Home, Ferdinand.
