Bettye Mae (McGlothlin) Goldsmith, born in Evansville, IN on June 27, 1921, passed away at Willowdale Village in Dale, In on January 16, 2024. She was 102 years of age. She was the oldest of 10 children born to Harlin Robert McGlothin and Aleene Mae (Doss) McGlothlin. Bettye attended Dale High School and graduated from Deconess School of Nursing at Evansville, IN. Her nursing career was dedicated to working for Dr. Barrow until he retired. She then worked at Willowdale Village until she retired. Bettye was preceded in death by her husband, James Columbus Goldsmith, her parents, a sister Sharon, a brother Robert Harlin both of whom died in infancy, sisters June McGlothlin, Evelyn McGlothlin Houchin, Laura McGlothlin, Jean Aleene McGlothlin Brumbaugh, a daughter Diane Sue who died in infancy. Surviving is a brother, Gary Paul McGlothlin of Bradenton, Florida and two sisters Mary Louise (McGlothlin) Poth of Bloomington, IN, and Juanita Kathleen Huff of Dale IN, as well as several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was active in her church and enjoyed studying the Bible. In her younger days she enjoyed fishing with her husband, spending time outdoors and lovingly caring for many patients and family members over decades who were also able to lovingly care for her in her last days.
