Brian Dean Vaal, 61, of St. Meinrad, passed away on June 25, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Brian was born at Perry County Memorial Hospital to Thomas and Carol (Waninger) Vaal on June 18, 1965. He lived his entire life in St. Meinrad.

Brian was a farmer of animals and crops along with his father and grandfather. Brian Enjoyed cards and couldn’t pass up a game of Sheephead and Euchre. He loved to hunt and fish, especially quail hunting with his grandfather.

Brian was involved in many sports. He was a distance/cross country runner in high school. Throughout his life he played horseshoes, softball and loved boating.

Brian belonged to the Knights of Columbus and was a Sons of the American Legion. For years Brian served the St. Meinrad Fire Department as both a firefighter and first responder.

He is survived by his life partner, Pam (Weedman) Vaal and his step-children, Crystal (Jeremy) Parker and Anthony (Audrey) Patmore. Brian is also survived by 11 step-grandchildren; Colin (Tori), Keenan, Breana, Amity, Anderson, Zaden (Addi), Siera, Bentley, Bralin, Aria and Kannon; 4 step-great-grandchildren: Xzavier, Jaxstyn, Haiden and Hadlee. He is furthermore survived by his siblings; David (Tricia) Vaal of Santa Claus and Brenda (Michael) Smith of Haubstadt. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Brian was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Carol (Waninger); brother, Glenn Vaal, sister in-law, Denise (Harper) Vaal, mother in-law, Bonnie Weedman and step-grandchild, Brayden.

Funeral services will be Friday, July 3rd at 10:00 AM CDT at St. Meinrad Catholic Church. Burial will be at a later date. Friends may call on Thursday, July 2nd at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand from 3:00 PM CDT until 7:00 PM CDT and also on Friday morning at St. Meinrad Catholic Church from 9:00 AM CDT until time of services.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions be made to St. Meinrad Fire Department.

Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand has been entrusted with arrangements.
