Elvin Walker

Elvin Walker, 83, of Bristow passed away Sunday July 26 at Deaconess Memorial Hospital in Jasper.

Elvin was born in Somerset County, Pennsylvania on February 2, 1943 to Percy and Alma (Schroer) Walker. He was united in Marriage to Sharon Aders on July 15, 1967 in Tell City. Elvin and Sharon met as pen pals, and after many letters, he drove from Texas in a White VW Bug to see Sharon, from there they were married for 40 years.

Elvin was a member of Bristow Christian Church and Ferdinand American Legion Post 124. He served in the military from 1963-1966, during the Viet Nam Era. He retired from the Abbey Press after 38 years.

Elvin is survived by his two children, Christina Graham of Bristow, and Evan Walker of Holland; 3 grandchildren including Marcus Graham; siblings Faye Walker of Ligonier, PA., Virgil Walker of Somerset, PA., Ray Walker of East Brady, PA.

Elvin is preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Sharon Walker ; siblings Sylvan Walker and Shirley Duppstadt.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM EDT on Saturday August 1st at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand with burial to follow at Beard Cemetery in Bristow. Ferdinand American Legion Post 124 will conduct military graveside service. Visitation will be at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand on Saturday August 1st from 10:00 AM EDT to time of funeral service.
