Obituary

Francis L. Lindauer, 87 of Ferdinand, passed away, Thursday, October 8, 2015, in Brookside Village Skilled Nursing Center in Jasper. He was born, January 19, 1928, in St. Henry Indiana to Otto N. & Bernadine C. (Begle) Lindauer. He married Juliana Weyer on May 7, 1949 in St. Ferdinand Catholic Church. Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Juliana Lindauer; two sons, Mike Lindauer and his wife Judy & Phil Lindauer and his wife Sharon both of Ferdinand; four daughters, Janice Hochgesang and husband Larry, Sharon Mehling and husband Bill, Joan Guilloume and husband Bruce all of Ferdinand and Susan Brames and husband Clarence of St. Anthony; nineteen grandchildren and thirty great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Alice Jochem of St. Henry and Margaret Stenftenagel of Jasper. He was preceded in death by a sister, Henrietta Kippenbrock Francis was a lifelong dairy farmer and rural mail carrier for 33 years. He was a member of St. Ferdinand Parish and its St. Joseph's Sodality. He was a Eucharistic minister at St. Ferdinand Parish. He was a member of St. Henry Catholic Knights of Columbus, Ferdinand American Legion Post 124, Ferdinand V.F. W. Post 2366 and The Navy Club Ship # 90. He was a member of the Dubois County Museum, and The Early Days Antique Club. Francis was a steam engine enthusiast and an avid antique collector. He was the recipient of the Brute' Society through St. Ferdinand Parish. Francis was a WWII Navy Veteran and served in the Atlantic Fleet aboard the USS Suison. In 1956 he was awarded the outstanding farmer of the year. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Monday October12th in Saint Henry Catholic Church, burial to follow in Saint Ferdinand Church Cemetery. Military graveside services conducted by Ferdinand American Legion Post 124. Friends may call from 2 to 8:00 PM Sunday & 7 to 9:30 AM Monday at Becher Funeral Home, Ferdinand. The Navy Club Ship # 90 will have a memorial service at 7:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the wishes of the family or Dubois County Museum.
