Hilda R. Jent, 97 of St. Meinrad, passed away Thursday, December 27th at 2:20am at Scenic Hills Care Center in Ferdinand. Hilda was born July 15, 1921 in Holland, IN to John and Elizabeth (Beckman) Kunkler. She married Erwin "Buddy" Jent on April 30, 1946 in St. Meinrad Archabbey Church. He preceded her in death on October 23, 2009. Hilda retired from Saint Meinrad Archabbey after 20 years in The Valet. She was a member of St. Meinrad Catholic Church, St. Elizabeth Society, Daughters of Isabella and St. Meinrad Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed camping, especially with the "Happy Campers", Euchre, sitting on the porch rocking and watching or listening to the traffic pass by and waiting for someone to say, "Hello Hilda." Hilda is survived by two daughters, Pam (Terry) Uebelhor of St. Meinrad and Brenda (Zach) Ubelhor of Siberia; one son, Samuel (Edna) Jent of Lamar; three grandchildren, Kathy (Jeff) Mohr and Kyle and Zane Ubelhor; two great-grandchildren, Caleb and Chloe Mohr. Hilda was preceded in death by her husband, Erwin; one sister, Josephine Werne; three brothers, Roy, John and Oscar Kunkler and one grandchild, Scott Uebelhor. Funeral services will be Monday at 10:00 AM CDT in St. Meinrad Catholic Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 3-7:00 PM CDT at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand and also Monday from 7-9:30 AM CDT at the funeral home.
