Janet S. Werne, 78 of Ferdinand, passed away on Saturday, July 6th at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper. Janet was born November 8, 1940 in Ferdinand to Alois and Henritta (Durcholz) Oser. She married Dennis Werne on September 3, 1960 in St. Ferdinand Church. Janet was a member of Christ the King Parish, St. Ferdinand Church. She enjoyed playing cards and being with family and grandkids. Janet is survived by her husband, Dennis Werne of Ferdinand; two daughters, Sharon (Rick) Bockelman of Huntingburg and Sue Thompson of Nineveh, IN; two sisters, Nancy (John) Laake of Ferdinand and Elaine (Ernie) Brames of Huntingburg; three grandchildren Emily (Josh) Watson, Phillip (Morgan) Bockelman and Amy Bockelman; four great-granddaughters. Janet was preceded in death by a sister, Ann Hoppenjans and a son-in-law, Wayne Thompson. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10:00 AM in St. Ferdinand Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 8:00 AM until time of services at the church.
