Joan E. Quante, 90, of Seymour formerly of Ferdinand passed away Tuesday October 19, 2021 at The Covered Bridge Health Campus in Seymour. Joan was born July 27, 1931 in Ferdinand to Hilbert and Henrietta (Becher) Quante. Joan was a retired nurse, having worked at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Huntingburg and at the Dubois County Health Department. Faith and family were very important to her. She was an enthusiastic genealogy researcher. She authored a book about the Becher family migration from Germany to America. Joan was an avid reader and gardener. Surviving is one sister, Mary Seufert formerly of Ferdinand. Two nieces, Donna (Bill) Sako of Plano, TX. and Paula (Lou) Duncan of Seymour. Several great nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Joan was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Donald Seufert. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 AM Friday October 22, 2021 in Saint Ferdinand Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at the church from 9:00 until 10:00 on Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to The Sisters Of St. Benedict or The Saint Meinrad Arch Abbey.
