John Verkamp

John Leo Verkamp, 55, of French Lick, passed away on Friday, November 6, 2026, at University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, KY. John was born on October 1, 1971, in Huntingburg to Clarence and Donna (Andry) Verkamp.

John is survived by his wife, Brandy (Pund) Verkamp, of French Lick; daughter Alyssa (Timothy) Swartzentruber, of Chrisney; one grandchild on the way, Parker Leo, parents: Clarence and Donna Verkamp of Celestine, 2 brothers: Darren (Lisa) Verkamp, of Evansville, Jarrod (Laura) Verkamp, of Indianapolis; father-in-law, Robert Pund, of Ferdinand; brother-in-law Chad Pund, of Ferdinand.

John was preceded in death by a sister, Jeannie Verkamp.

He was a lover of all things outdoors, especially archery and bow hunting. He owned and operated Verkamp Archery and Hunters Hideaway, and was in business for 22 years. Most of all, he loved spending time with family and friends, and was very excited to watch his daughter's family grow.

Memorial Service for John will be held Friday, November 13th at 7:00 PM EST at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand. Visitation will be on Friday, November 13th from 4:00 PM until time of service, at the funeral home.
