Leon J. Olinger

Leon J Olinger, 86, of Ferdinand, passed away with family surrounding him on Monday, June 8, 2026.

Leon was born on January 27, 1940, in Ferdinand to Leo and Ida (Hohl) Olinger. Leon married Mary Ann Dilger-Olinger February 4, 1961. She preceded him in death May 23, 2006. Leon married Sandra Purtzer Olinger September 2, 2007.

Leon is survived by his wife, Sandra; one daughter Lydia (Dean) Blessinger of Ferdinand; two sons Michael (Terri) Olinger of Ellston, IA, and Thomas (Christine) Olinger of Danville, CA.; one sister, Mary Jane Dilger of Mariah Hill. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren; Tyler Blessinger, Morgan (Jeff) Blessinger- Seng, Kylie (Beau) Anderson, Alex (Lauren) Olinger, Andrew Olinger, Christopher (Elizabeth) Olinger, Mitchell (Amy) Olinger, and Mary Grace Olinger; and 7 great grandchildren Kasady Anderson, Bailey Anderson, Ace Anderson, Archie Anderson, Sawyer Seng, Miller Seng, Beau Olinger, and one great granddaughter on the way.

Leon was preceded in death by his wife Mary Ann Dilger-Olinger, his parents; brothers and a sister Clare Mae Fest, Cyril Olinger, Irenus Olinger, and Leander Olinger; and great granddaughter Lydia Kay Seng.

Leon enjoyed being an educator. He was an insurance agent for 51 years. He was a member of Christ the King Parish. Leon loved his family deeply and enjoyed spending time with all of them.

Services for Leon will be held at a later date.
