Pauline Theresa Schum, of Mariah Hill passed away November 28, 2020 at Scenic Hills at the Monastary in Ferdinand. Pauline was born April 17, 1917 in Mariah Hill to Frank P. and Lena (Roos) Dilger. She was united in marriage to Roman Simon Schum on October 14, 1947, in Mary Help of Christians Church in Mariah Hill. Roman preceded her in death on April 30, 1989. Pauline was a member of Mary Help of Christians Church, Mariah Hill and the Ladies Sodality. She was a homemaker, enjoyed the outdoors especially working in her garden, growing flowers. She was a prayer warrior. Pauline enjoyed reading, working in her garden, enjoyed her flowers, playing scrabble even in her later years, crossword puzzles and word find. Surviving are 3 daughters, Dolores Fuesler of Huntingburg; Margaret (Joe) Nord of Huntingburg; Mary Ann (Dan) Bettag of Ferdinand; eight grandchildren—Larry Fuesler, Greg Fuesler, Fr. Paul Nord,OSB, Jon Nord, Kristi (Nord) McDonald, Brian Bettag, Kevin Bettag + Lisa (Bettag) Hardesty; and 20 great-grandchildren.Pauline was preceded in death by a daughter, Sylvia Mae Schum in infancy; brothers, Frank A. Dilger, Emil Dilger, Leo Dilger, Clem Dilger, Placidus and Philip Dilger; and 2 sisters, Leona Barth and Alma Luebbehusen. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 12:00pm EST Wednesday, December 2, 2020 in Mary Help Of Christians Church in Mariah Hill. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:30 am EST Wednesday at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand.
