Shirley Ann Schipp, age 84, of Ferdinand, passed away surrounded by family on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Evansville.
Shirley was born on August 5, 1942, in Jasper to Ermin and Kathryn (Fuhs) Friedman. She married Francis Schipp on May 20, 1967, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper.
She was a 1960 graduate of Jasper High School. She worked in the offices of multiple insurance agents and as a field representative for the U.S. Census Bureau, as well as being a homemaker. She was a member of St. Anne’s Sodality of St. Ferdinand Catholic Church (now Christ the King Parish) and a lifelong volunteer at church and school events. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother and always put other’s needs and comfort ahead of her own. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren’s sports and performances. She had a wonderful gift for remembering family history and found joy in keeping up with family members and friends and their lives.
Shirley is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Francis, two sons James (Krista) Schipp, San Jose, CA, and Mark Schipp, Louisville, KY, one daughter, Tricia (David) Borcherding, Carmel, IN, and four grandchildren, Owen and Noah Borcherding, and Addison and Jason Schipp. She is also survived by two sisters, Camila “Camie” (Robert) Ferguson, and Patty (George) Bilinski, sisters-in-law Alma Kreilein, Carol Schipp, Norma Jerger, Vernita Williams, and Donna Friedman, brothers-in-law Harold Schipp and Kenneth Bachman, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her sister, Marjorie “Margie” Bachman, her brother, Michael Friedman, brothers-in-law Jack Kreilein, Louis Schipp, Joe Williams, and Gerald “Jerry” Jerger.
