Virginia Tice McCallister, 86, of Santa Claus, passed away after an extended illness on Tuesday, January 30th at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper. Virginia was born December 11, 1931 in Midland City, Alabama to Pat and Mittie (Paramore) Tice. She married Jim McCallister on March 15, 1950 in Midland City, AL. Virginia was a graduate of Midland City High School and Riley Business College. She was an office manager at Southern Hills until her retirement. Virginia was special and fun to everyone she knew. She loved life and enjoyed it to the fullest. Virginia enjoyed cards, Hand and Foot and Conasta with her girlfriends in Santa Claus. She loved her Red Hats, going to lunch, spending time at the beach, Alabama Football, and loving on all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Virginia was a member of Santa Claus United Methodist Church. Virginia is survived by her husband of 67 years, Jim McCallister of Santa Claus; one son, Patrick (Kathy) McCallister of Gulf Breeze, Florida; two daughters, Kathy (Rick) Watson of Antioch, TN. and Jeannie (Creg) Stotts of Hendersonville, TN.; one sister, Dorothy Tice Wages and a sister-in law, Chris Crawford Tice; grandchildren, Lindsay (Cary) McCallister Campbell, Zachary (Kim) McCallister Watson, Patrick (Nicole) Taylor McCallister, Katie (Josh) Watson Landis and Jamie (Matt) Stotts Mraz; great-grandchildren, Patrick and Caroline Campbell, Grayson, Jace and Courtland McCallister. Virginia was preceded in death by one brother, Benny Tice. Services will be held Saturday at 11:00 AM CDT in Santa Claus United Methodist Church. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from 10:00 AM CDT until services. In lieu of flowers, family request donations be made to First United Methodist Church of Santa Claus.
