Our History
Becher Funeral Home was founded by Victor F. Becher in 1937. In fact, the funeral home still resides at the same location today on Main Street in Ferdinand, Indiana.In 1959 Richard “Dick” Becher came to work with his Uncle Victor in the established funeral home. After spending years working at the funeral home and learning the trade, Richard and his wife Kathleen purchased the business from Victor in 1967. In order to meet the needs of the growing community and the growing business, Richard oversaw an extensive renovation to the building in 1975. Becher Funeral Home was owned and operated by Richard until his passing in 1995. The funeral home was then purchased by Richard's two sons, Lance and Shawn Becher, who presently own and operate the family business. In 2012, a third licensee, John Fleig was added to the staff to help meet the needs of the continuously growing business.
